The Kenwood TS-530S has been the "flagship" HF transceiver at KA9FON since 1985 and has snagged a bit of DX  with 50W average output power to simple wire antennas. The antennas are tuned with the Kenwood AT-230 tuner (not shown). The mike is a Kenwood MC-50. The keys are a Bencher and homebrew straight key for CW.

The Alinco DR-135 (below)  is the 2 meter transceiver connected to a disconne antenna. The same antenna is shared by the Realistic PRO-35 VHF/UHF scanner.( left)  The Alinco is connected to an Astron RS-20M power supply (not shown). It is also "packet-ready" for packet and APRS operation

The Kenwood R-600 continuous coverage receiver is used for  monitoring the worldband radio frequencies. Another '80s era rig, the R-600 supplements the SWL part of the hobby. The radio shares the same antennas and tuner as the TS-530S.
